Easy answer:
    Stop by a mtn. bike shop - tubes are 1.5"-2.0"+
    Ask for the garbage.  A pinch-flat tube that's trash for bike purposes
is fine for cutting up purposes, you should be able to get a virtually
unlimited supply.
