Go on down to your favorite auto parts store and tell them you want a bar of
"Clay Magic" (or one of the many, similar products available)  These things
are amazing.  I've been using them for a few years in my auto detailing
business, and have been quite impressed with the results.  Just be sure that
whichever version of the product you use doesn't contain any abrasives.
Otherwise you'll wind up with very fine scratches in your paint.  Basically,
these things are a very sticky clay of some sort, that you rub accross your
paint (or glass) to pull off any contamination (industrial fallout, tar,
paint overspray, etc.)  They all require some sort of a lubricant (usally a
very mild soap/water sollution) that should come with the bar.
