Cold start problems / Late MC turbo
Dear Qlist,
I have "cold" start problems with my late MC engine
200T (FWD/Slush box).
By "cold" I'm talking Australian
late summer morning temperatures - say 15 deg. C, or
59 deg. F in the old currency.
On start up, it fires up o.k., starts to idle for a
second or two, then the idle speed drops and it stalls.
A warm engine - say after parking for 1 hour - doesn't
display this problem.
My mechanic has tried the following:
1. Checked thermo. time switch. Operation o.k.
2. Cold start valve injects for 4 sec.
3. Instantaneous fuel pressure is 5.8 bar
4. Control pressure on the fuel distributor is initially
3.4 bar, and increases progressively with warm up to 4.2 bar.
5. The coolant temperature sensor resistance is
correct, and increases as temperature increases.
Running out of things to check. Any suggestions
from this omniscient list?
Thanks,
Tony Guttmann
