stick-on pinstriping/removal of

Speaking of ugly stick-on pinstriping: I hate the look of the pinstripes on
my '91 200q. What is the best way to remove them, and what is the liklihood
that such striping will leave an indelible trace (probably seven years atop
Lago blue paint)?
