The secret to doorhandle longevity is semi-annual
lubrication of the locking lever mechanism,inside the door. A few years
ago a mechanic friend told me if I used "Wurth HS 2000" I would never
have to replace another handle,(Works on doorchecks as well) so far he
has been correct.
Wurth HS 2000 is a MIL SPEC lubricant so I would imagine there are
substitutes.
