RE: 4kcsq stalling -- Help!
I've done a little more poking around -- this time, focusing on the idle
stabilizer valve. I noticed that when the ignition is on, it makes an
intermittent humming sound, about a second on, then a second off. This
sounded suspicious, so I unplugged it, and the car started and idled fine,
but had no throttle response 'till it warmed up. Even then, it was rough.
Plugging it back in when cold caused air to rush through it and kill the
engine. When (almost) warm, it changed the RPM a bit, but didn't kill it.
Throttle response remained rough throughout.
I had some problems before with my idle speed oscillating before
stabilizing. Now the question is, do I just buy a new stabilizer valve, or
could it be the electrical system controlling it? Or something else
entirely? Man, this almost makes me yearn for carburetors.
Oh, I pulled the valve to check it out. Looks okay, just a simple stepper
motor. Anyone know if it's supposed to close completely? It leaks a fair
bit of air when I blow through it (tastes like crap, too).
