Bollocks.
Valve bending can be diagnosed very quickly and simply by doing a
standard leak-down test and having a gander at the piston tops with a
Bend-A-Light down the plughole. You'll also _hear_ it on a 2144cc
mechanical lifter engine - a valve that doesn't close properly also
doesn't rise completely, so you get tappet rattle.
Although the WR/WX/GV _can_ interfere in some circumstances, it needs
to be a well-worn engine at very high revs.
