They said they could not get it to start and that it had no compression.
I can't recall exactly when I'd started it last, but it ran, poorly, but
it ran. And it can't run without compression.
The shop owner said sometimes they can jump time just as you shut the
engine down. I have heard of this happening before, but never with an
Audi engine.
I'm waiting for the World's Slowest Towing Service (it's been 4 hours now)
to bring it back to me. Then I'm going to start checking it again myself.
What pisses me most, now, is that the service writer told me over the
phone when I made the appointment, that I'd need to stick around after
delivering the car to them and start it once for them to point out the
problem. If I had and it had started, and then I'd gotten the same song
and dance later, then I could safely assume that the engine *has* crashed
and that *they* did it.
But if I can get it started then I'll go back hunting vacuum problems, 1st.

Same phone # for literature as on the Audi of America web page, but I've not
seen these documents listed before. Would you have a complete list of documents
available? I have a couple of other obscure things Id like to look for...

I'll do a compression check too, 1st I'm going to just listen carefully
while spinning it to see how it sounds. Thanks again, Steve! -dq
