Different manufacturers (and nationalities) build cars with different "mind
sets" and "schools of thought." It is very interesting to own different
marques and try to envision the "culture" that was responsible for producing
the style and mechanical approach to problem solving, material usage, etc.
Whether a particular car appeals to me or not, I try to judge if in fact they
accomplished the goal they set out to, and if the target audience was in fact
well served. If so, the car is a success, and in my mind a good product. I may
not want to ever own one, but that is of little consequence to the cars place
in history as a great car or a flop. Italian cars are indeed seductive. An
acquaintance's wife refers to his Italian car as "The redheaded whore in the
garage." It's light hearted, and they have a good marriage (no flames please).
