The circlip should be fitted to the slot inside the outer cv joint splines,
then driven on. If you fit the circlip to the driveshaft first, you won't get
any further than the clip. Use a dead blow hammer, or thread the old
driveshaft nut on the cv joint to protect the splines and the threads. I
committed an old socket to this cause. Also, make sure you flatten the boot
band crimps down, the clearance is really tight to the lower ball joint.
