93 V8 Rearended

Another idiot driver in Nashville, TN in a wonderfully stylish Chrysler New
Yorker, circa 1994, slammed into us last night, most likely totaling the V8.
Can anyone suggest how to deal with the insurance company in this situation?
Car is 93 Green with Tan, 77,000 miles and in prewreck perfect shape.  If it
ends up being a total loss, my plans are to cannibalize everything possible.
Thus, there may some parts available to anyone interested.  Why can't
everyone pay attention while driving?  Any helpful information would be
appreciated.  Especially, the value of comparable V8s and insurance tactics.
