The outer foam bolster is ordered under a V8 part number, Linda found it
for me. I'll try digging it out.
Here are the type 44 part numbers:
447 881 377 - Left side pad - $25.00 (w/qlist discount)
447 881 378 - Right side pad - same$.
If either are not avail have them check for the V8 - although the number is
different, the part is the same.
Need screwdrivers, pliers, needlenose effective. A couple (several) of tie
wraps if you hate hog rings.
Remove the big seat side cover - pop off the plastic screw cover at the
hinge. There's a phillips under there. There's another under the farthest
back switch depending on what year you have. Then theres a final one about
3 inches from the front. After the cover is off, remove the circlip for the
seat hinge and pop off the seat back portion of the hinge to remove the
leather at the back end. There are 5 hog rings that have to be removed in
front - one for the left side of the center section and 3 more that pin
down the side bolster leather. There are 2 places along the outer edge
where triangular points hold the leather.
Don't remove the inner side hold downs. Roll the leather up and pull out
the old foam. Fit the new one in. There's a little tail at the rear end of
the inside of the bolster that fits down into the seat. You have to do a
lot of manipulation at this point to get the leather to correctly cover the
new foam, as it is much bigger than yer old broken down piece. Work slowly
- if your leather is old it may tear!
Goes back together in reverse order.
I know this sounds a little arcane, but once you're in the it all makes sense!
