Avi, an increased VR can help, so could increased amps. Does anyone NEED it,
or just want it? The "undisputed" fact is that these cars came with
electrical systems that worked well for years, then don't. That really isn't
a alternator problem. It IS an electrical and charging system problem. The
easy answer is to go big on the VR and alt. The tougher answer is to find the
problem. Mike LaRosa found one of the less obvious ones. I advocate, before
you explore alternator options, that you know that is the problem.
Alternators running at their total rated capacity all the time, will fail.
Claiming that to be an alternator problem, seems a little premature.
Especially if the original lasted for 8years or more.
