some of 'em are finned on the bottom, leading you to believe that they are
supposed to serve an oil cooling function.  thermal transfer properties of
aluminum and all that.  no idea if this is really cooling or just real cool.  my
Fiats (yes i know...) had finned pans, gotta admit, just like valve covers, alum
looks a heck of a lot better even if it doesn't functionally make any diff. and
with an Italian car you spend a lot of time looking at the motor, believe me.
