Ur-Q rear valence questions...
Does anyone know when, exactly, the US Ur-Qs got the wider rear valence panel?
I know that my '85 has it but I believe that Bob DuPree's '84 doesn't (it was
dark out when I saw it) even though both cars originally came with 8x15
wheels.
The reason I ask is that a friend of a friend is closing his bodyshop and has
a rear valence from an '84 Ur-Q that's slightly damaged and he's willing to
let me have it for the shipping/crating costs and $20 for his time. Although
it's not heavy, it's reasonably bulky and I figure the shipping, etc. will
probably run $150 or so. Since I don't actually *need* it and it isn't in
perfect condition, the only reason I'd buy it is to put it away as a last-hope
spare against an uncertain future ... someday, Audi may decide that keeping
parts around for these cars is no longer economical (like Volvo did last
year!) and I'd hate to be scrambling around for one then.
Anyway, he knows nothing about these cars and therefore can't tell me whether
it's the original narrow version or the later wider one but he knows for sure
that it was off an '84 (don't ask). Any info will be appreciated...
