Ahem. As an A4 owner, and the owner of a good number of other vehicles that
might be considered "rare" or "oddball" depending on your outlook, I have to
say that I've never been waved at by anybody except another A4. 

Even that's rare enough around here, the home of the "I-doin't-want-to-
ackowlwdge-anybody-for-fear-that-they'll-attack-me-phobe" Washington, DC

I usually get lots of waves and beeps when I'm out in my other vehicles, a
Fiat 124 Spider or a Merkur XR4Ti. Never get waved at when we're out as a
family in my wife's vehicle of choice, a '97 Chrysler T&C van. Too boring.
