I've used the 4000 propshaft brg in a 5000 without a problem. Well, I should
say I've sent a 4000 brg to a gentleman who successfully installed it in his
5000. The brg itself is the same part, just the "ears" on the carrier are a
bit longer/wider. I told my customer at the time that I hadn't done this
myself, and what sort of fab work it might require. He called me back several
days later to express thanks and say it worked out just fine having cut the
ears off the original carrier and welding them onto the new one. I know Andrew
Duane's mechanic said that the 4000 brg wouldn't work with his 100q, can't
really say without looking at the situation, but most mechanics won't
undertake such a labor intensive process. They'd much rather install a bolt-in
part. Or perhaps the torsen cars use a different brg, they do use a different
shaft by length.
