Yes, the red lighting is great for me at night.
BUT, at dawn and dusk the instruments become totally unreadable
for me, due to minor red/green colour blindness. For people
with full red/green colour blindness the red-lit instruments
are unreadable at night also. This is in some cases just a pain
(risk of speeding tickets etc.) and in other cases a real
safety problem (distraction due to fiddling the illumination
to try and read something, anything, on the speedo/tach.).
