Re: New Order
Definitely get quattro! My opinion is that the 2.8 L is a much smoother
ride than the 1.8 L that seems to have a lot of engine noise, especially
above 70 mph. I usually drive 80-90 provided there is a traffic jam.
The extra volume comes in nicely when taking your friends around town.
It accelerates very smoothly and your passengers will thank you for not
being jerked around. I like my sport suspension also, it makes the car
sit about 1 inch lower and gives me the feeling being able to handle the
curves a little faster. I also like my trip computer, it is usually on
the MPG display just to see how much gas is running through the engine
at top acceleration, and stop-and-go traffic. There hasn't been any
tuning on my car yet. Like many 2.8qts owners there are concerns over
warranty and the hassles that these mods may bring. But I would like to
put on the performance engineering systems supercharger kit. Stock hp
is 190 or so, after the super charger 280hp. It runs about 5k and will
be worth it if you enjoy a little extra boost. My tiptronic
transmission is nice. Since I live in southern California I spend a lot
of time in traffic; while I have driven a standard all my life I really
appreciate the automatic in afternoon traffic. The manual mode of the
tiptronic does allow you to choose which gear, 1-5, that you want to be
in, but it is a soft shift. Nevertheless, it gives me the plenty of
excitement going down mountain roads. If you live in a southern climate
I suggest the sun roof, a real necessity for SoCal. Good luck and I
hope you enjoy your new Audi.
