Don't say this -- I just purchased one (albeit before consulting
listmeisters). _sigh_ live and learn, I guess.

I'd stay away from non-vented, IMHO.

Several listers have mentioned Interstate batteries as good. I can attest
to the Autobahn battery that Scott J. recommends. I believe it is the OEM
replacement part. Go to your Audi dealer, and they will push one on you,
I think.
But, my other 4kq sat in through MOST of this winter with only ONE start
(I have another 4kq that I'd prefer to drive), and this is decently cold
Chicagoland winters. Most of Jan/Feb/Mar it was just parked. The couple
times I _did_ start it, it turned over more quickly than my daily-driver
4kq (with the Diehard). I'd run it around the block once, and it never
had a problem.
A stout battery, in my experience.
