Re: STRUTS OR WHAT???

<<A few dealers said you need struts, but one dealer said that the struts you
have are not totally bad, and that a good alignment will set you at almost
100% performance. >>
I'm not aware of any alignment technique or procedure that will tighten up a
"bouncy" front end. An alignment can change pull, vibration, wander, and some
other things, but I really can't think of anything in the alignment process
that can reduce the bounciness. Strut cartridges are the only thing that come
to mind for that particular problem.
And they are not hard to change on the Type 44 body. Three 13mm nuts, one on
the strut cartridge that can be taken off with (as I recall) a 7/8" wrench,
then the BIG replaceable collar/nut that holds the strut cart in place. You
need two wrenches, a BIG set of lockable pliers, an allen wrench (for the top
of the strut cartridge) and a floor jack to do the job. Oh, and some time.
:-) The first time is the hardest.
