This seems to be a very common problem. On my '87 (MC motor), I was sold
an 04170 which was for the smaller shaft (~10 mm). The correct part,
pointed out by Orin, was an 04139, for the 14mm shaft on my distributor.
The guy at the parts store said that the 04139 was listed for the 4kq or
something like that. Either the Bosch parts books have got it wrong or
there were a couple of different distributor models lying around the
factory that year.
