Rod knock...
Yesterday morning, while driving into the office to work some overtime --
it's April and I'm in the tax biz -- I thought I heard the lifters start
getting noisy and since it was time to change the oil, I wasn't too concerned
about it. However, yesterday evening, after I had changed the oil, I got to
hear it better ... unfortunately, it sounds like I've got a bad rod bearing.
Since it's got 143k on it (the last 61k of which are mine), I guess I can't
totally complain but the timing certainly sucks.
I plan to drop the oil pan later today and take a good look ... assuming it
is a rod bearing, what are the odds that throwing in a new set of bearings
will last me at least another year? I'm also assuming I can replace them
from underneath ... any BTDTs will be appreciated. Oh, it's an '89 200q...
