Never seen a rod fail at that mileage on a VW or Audi 'cept when my son
hydolocked the motor :-( If your q is a turbo then you don't have a vacuum
pump which sometimes sounds like a rod. Given you are in Phoenix, I presume
you are running the AC, do you hear the knock without the AC running? I have
had AC brackets fail and the banging against the block is very disconcerting
to say the least. Hey, I'm an optimist :-)
