Used Audi show
Hi all,
Visited the Audi importer again Saturday for their 'A Selection' show-
featuring the nicest used cars that can be found at the Dutch Audi
dealerships. Very stringent selection criteria, etc. etc.
What was slightly disappointing was that there were no S-cars this time-
last year there was an S6 plus and an RS2 Avant. The selection spanned the
whole Audi model range- lots of A3s and A4s, lots of A6es (even new-model
A6 Avants!) and a couple of A8s. There was also a Cabriolet ($50k, 1 year
old, 1.9TDI), a TT ($1k off new price, 180hp FWD, 12/98) and a couple of B4
80 Competition quattros (homologation models for the 2.0 16v engine, for
competing in the German STW and Italian Touring Car Championship). These
are actually pretty nice cars- with the 3 extra gauges in the console, rear
spoiler, S2 front bumper with spoiler lip, quattro logo interior and nice
5-spoke alloys. '94 limited edition, expected to fetch about $20k. The
sales guy seemed very eager to deal on these cars- I think one of them was
there last year, too.
Much to my surprise the A8s sold well- as did the A6es. Much less interest
could be found for the A4s apparently, although there was a pretty nice
Avant Highline 2.4 quattro (black metallic, black leather, alu roof rails,
quattro GmbH alloys). The public generally looked well-off and interested
in buying rather than just looking.
The whole setup was very classy indeed, and seemed to reflect the audience.
Lots of sales guys around to tackle you once you looked more than two
seconds at a certain car. Attendance was lower than last year's edition-
both were Saturdays in a five-day show. When you came in you were given a
nice list with the details of all available cars. Last year they'd taken
the asking prices off this list- I'd been called by a tele-marketing agency
for my opinion on the show, and had told them that leaving the prices off
was not a good idea. Maybe more people had made that remark, as the prices
were back this year.
Everyone who left the building was given a nice, classy gift.
For anyone interested in asking prices for a certain model- drop me a line.
Tom
