turbo intake elbow cheap replacement

I have a chronic problem with my turbo 5k's with the turbo intake elbow
tearing form heat, oile, and engine movement. First off, the vacuum lines
have to be rerouted to the airbox bellows port that's blocked off on 86
and ups. Earlier, just be creative- that port is used.

Are you ready? This fix cost me a grand total of...... $5. At least I
think. It might be less. You go to Home Depot's plumbing supply dept, buy
a 1 1/2" to 1 1/2" rubber 90 degree elbow. This is smaller than the metal
downpipe, but you can stretch it over. It is the perfect dia for the turbo
inlet nozzle. It has something of a rim on the inside of both ends. If
you choose, you can SLIGHTLY!!!! shave them, but NO CUTTING!!! You will
definately cut to the other side and ruin it. Next, about halfway down the
pipe, you will put a hose clamp on, but not to clamp anything to it. With
engine movement up, the hose will fold enough (possibly, I have no front
mount snubber and am running lots of boost. No trouble at lower stock
settings). Clamp the hose a little more than snug. Not to crimp it, just
snug. This prevents the sides moving outward and subsequent collapse
blocking off airflow. The larger diameter side blends into the smaller
well. I noticed some more bottom end with this arrangement.

**You will need to reorient the airbox outlet bellows to accomodate
this!!!!**

Not much, just slightly rotate it counter clockwise (looking form the
top). The length of the elbow is perfect. No loss of top end, actually the
power is smoother and more controllable as the boost climbs in lower
gears.

A pic will be on my site as soon as possible.
