McKamey Autocross School
Any BTDTs? After reading an article about the school, I signed up for
a session in my (PA/NJ) area. Full day "phase I School" - apparently
25-35 runs of a 35 second, 5 part course, under close (in-car)
supervision and instruction of instructors. Now I'm beginning to
wonder whether, despite the convenience, it would have been better to
sign up for a more conventional introductory racing course somewhere
else. What am I seeking? I'm probably long overdue in learning how
to drive a bit more aggressively safely, and understand better the
limits of my cars - what's the best line into a curve, etc. I'm also
unsure which car would be best to take to the school - my '93 S4
(basically stock, except for an MTM chip), which is my daily driver,
or my '95 Carrera, which I tend to drive more aggressively, at least
when I'm alone. Taking the latter would, I suppose, have one
advantage for other attendees - most or all will probably be able to
go home and tell their friends that they had better times than a
Porsche :) Any thoughts/suggestions (e.g., helpful books to read in
advance) would be appreciated. Thanks.
