re: Auto Trans leaking

Yes.
And my experience is that it may not be the pan gasket. These AT's are
prone to leaking from several other places.
Mine leaks the worst from the right side at a 3 inch flat/round disk
(second gear something or other).
I replaced the pan gasket more than once before realizing that it was
leaking from above, dripping down and off the pan, so it gave the
appearance the pan gasket was the culprit. Chances are there's gunk all
over the AT case and difficult to tell exactly where the leak originates
from.
Especially true if your steering rack is leaking or had been leaking in the
past.
Best bet is to jack up the car and clean it up with engine degreaser so you
can tell for sure where the leak is coming from.

The pan gasket is a first suspect partly because the exhaust system is in
the way making pan/gasket R&R pretty awkward.
Seemed strangely coincidental that mine really started leaking righrt after
the first ATF/pan gasket change.
