Quattro driveshaft carrier bearing

Hi,
I'm new to the list and have a (probably) common question?
I live near Dallas,TX and am wondering where the best place to obatin a
driveshaft carrier bearing might be without paying fourteen
prices!?!?!?
I've been told it is not available separately--only as a unit.
So, if that's true then where do the pieces in the rebuilt units come
from?!?--somebody has to be able to get them?
Any help would be apreciated greatly.
