Holy Sh*t! (somewhat long)
Hi gang,
Well its the Big Tax day and I'm doing mine at the office when I realize, I
don't have the registration forms (so I can deduct the vehicle license fee)
for the CGT (I drove the 4kq today). So I take a ride home at lunch and
half way home, I notice the voltmeter gauge dropping into the red zone
around 6 volts. "What the @#$%%", says I and then I start to smell smoke.
Ohh SH*T! Its pouring out around the lower dash and instrument cluster. I
start to image my dear 4kq on the side of the road burning into a slag heap
:-(( The engines still running though, and the radio and windows are
working. Opening the window, the smoke gets sucked out like its going into
space! Pulled off the freeway, shut down to take a look under the hood and
the fuse box. Then I thought, "DAMN if the fuse box worked, I wouldn't be
seeing smoke". Can't find anything, and smoke seems to be clearing. So I
start her up and the voltmeter gauge reads normal again.
Three quarters of the way home and still on the freeway, everything goes-no
meters or gauges, tach dead, turn signals, I mean everything. Only thing
still going is the speedo and the red battery light. Engine still running,
so I drive that last 2 miles, praying all the way. I still need to finish
my taxes and I don't need this right now!!! Get home, quickly pull
negative lead on battery, get the forms and switch cars and head back to work.
Bet I find something nice and charred underneath when I open the dash.
Later,
Tony
4kq, nearly dead stick
P.S. Did get my taxes done! Whew :^)
