I'm back on the list and notice I have about fifteen direct queries
outstanding.  As and when I get time ...

I've gone digital, BTW.  I was offered a Panasonic "Card Shot" for a
ridiculous price - it's only 640 x 480 pixels but it's small enough
to fit in my overalls' pockets.  Once I find a functioning and not
occupied serial port ...
