86 5K hi/lo beam switch

Just when I thought "spring cleaning" was done on the wife's car,
another real problem seems to have cropped up...

The combo turn signal/hi-lo beam switch no longer clicks into the hi or
low positions.  Turn signal is fine, and the headlites seem to be on low
all the time.  The lever moves forward and back, it just doesn't click
into positions and the lites stay on low...

Any BTDT that can advise.  I assume that it is new combo switch time,
which means pulling the steering wheel and all that.  If this is a
common problem with a worthwhile fix that's easier than a new combo
switch, I'd love to know...
