RE: wtb 1988 90q a-pillar trim
You and me both. The 'press fitted plastic stub into metal clip' design was
just not real hot to begin with. The 80/90 trim in the '88-'92 model year
should be the same. Mine are both broken, as are the pillars in my fathers
'89 80q. I used double stick foam tape (for attaching emblems to cars) to
create a foam block of sorts (the plastic pillar doesn't fit flush the the
metal A-pillar), then I gobbed automotive grade trim adhesive on the stubs
(gooey glue that dries somewhat flexible). The passenger side pillar has
been holding for about a year. The driver side falls about twice a week.
It was holding on it's own until 4 months ago. I think I need to repeat the
treatment on the driver's side. Trick is to adhere it well, but not so well
that it will never come off again, should the windshield need replacement.
With used pillar pieces, I suspect very few will have survived undamaged.
If you find a source for more than you need though, please let me know.

Subject: wtb 1988 90q a-pillar trim
Hello,
I am looking for the two off-white vertical trim pieces that are located
next to the windshield. Some idiot pried them off the car sometime in the
past and managed to break all the stubs that hold them in place, so they
keep popping off every now and then. I am trying to engineer a fix, but
it's a pita and if someone is stripping a 90 ( or 80, I believe the said
trim is the same) please drop me a line. Naturally, I am interested in
those which still have the said stubs.
Thanks,
Andrei
