It's normal and correct.  Takes a while to get used to the idea though,
but that voltage range corresponds to very tiny fluctuations from a
perfect center position.

Does 0.5 volts  really correspond to the ideal mixture?  Todd P and I
were wondering about this recently...

It's the way it is supposed to work.  Oscillating feedback loop.
