or bring it inside and test it with cold water, hot water, and boiling
water against the resistance specs in bentley.  mine listed cold,
operating, and overtemp values for the one in my coupe  (I think it went
from a few hundred ohms to about 60 or 70 to 40 or so, respectively). 
Don't know if your sender is the same if it is I could look up the
actual numbers for you.
