RE: [syncronized] Diagnosis Please
Matt,
This sounds like you have tire(s) out of balance. Maybe the weights fell
off. Also, has the car ever been aligned? If not, choose the place to do it
like you would choose a brain surgeon. Myself and I am sure many others have
had some horror stories with bringing quattros/syncros for alignments to the
wrong places...

Subject: [syncronized] Diagnosis Please
Okay folks, I am looking for your best diagnosis, or better yet, a BTDT. My
sister's '87 QSW with 90k mi. has a driveshaft or tranny/diff problem, I
think. Symptom: in a high speed (i.e. 45+mph) situation, with the gas off,
there is a rhythmic thumping coming from under the car -- I can even sort of
feel it coming, it seems, more from under the drivers side. It changes in
frequency with speed, but is not affected by brakes, gear or clutch. It is
not a problem while accelerating or cruising, just when taking off the gas.
I looked quickly underneath, but did not see anything obviously amiss.
It has been getting progressively worse, and she is worried.
Any thoughts? TIA
