I am not sure Audi "copied" the Accord.  While the Accord did precede
the A4 by a little (the A4 was released in Europe in late 94), but not
by much.  There is certainly some resemblance in the rear end, but that
is more styling trend and coincidence than copy.  The A4's design is
a far more successful and integrated than the Accord, IMHO.  Despite
the rear end similarities, the Accord's tail lights look droopy-eyed
while the A4 looks spirited.  The A4's roof curvature and C pillar
flow cohesively in a swoop while the Accord's just looks awkward.
The worst part of the Accord is the rear quarter panels... the top
part of it has this haphazard bulge that gives the rear end its
droopy-eyes.  Unfortunately, that same styling element is now also
found on the Volvo S80... and even more pronounced there.
