Early CGT/4k/q: fusing the radiator & afterun (was RE: Smoking Dashes: Problem solved)
Now this is what I was talking about last week. Tony (or anyone), could you
forward/repost Luis' original post?
Thanks!

Subject: Smoking Dashes: Problem solved
Hi gang,
The smoking dash on my 4kq was caused by the fan wiring shorting together.
The only circuit that's not fused :( The relay contacts fused together and
melted my entire left side harness taking out the headlights, turn signals,
A/C, the fuse panel itself and fan. The good news was that I was able to
locate a '86 4000S in the local P-N-P yard and was able to get the fuse
panel from it. I hacked off the burnt harness underneath the coolant
overflow tank and pulled what was left from inside the car. Turns out,
this involves only the yellow and green connectors in locations D and E.
I'll probably go back and see if I can pull the left side harness intact
off that car. Got the car started and moved out of the way on the monthly
street sweeping (saved me a $40 ticket here :)
Lesson of the Day: Put a fuse or fusible link into your fan circuit before
your wire harness goes up in smoke for whatever reason. On the 4000s you
just need to move 1 wire and add a 30A fuse. Procedure was already written
up by Luis Marques and I just hadn't got around to it. Now its at the top
of the work schedule!
Regards,
-Tony
