Re: blowin heat in the heat
Dave -
A common cause for that is a problem with the temperature control flaps,
which are controlled by a electric motor via a bowden cable. If the
motor can't drive to the target position, the error is announced by
flashing the Outside Temp light. You can then hold Outside Temp and
press Off to invoke diagnostic mode. You'll see '01 on the display,
meaning that you're looking at channel 01. 01 is the error channel. To
view the value of that channel, press the Cooler button. 00 indicates no
errors; 07 indicates that the temp flap motor isn't working properly.
See if your CC is showing that error.
Mine seemed to work fine ever since I had the stuff apart last fall, but
now it's starting to have difficulties again--just as it's warmed up
into the 70's around here. Sometimes if the error light starts flashing
right as the CC starts, I just run the temperature up high for a few
seconds, then run it back down to 68 or whatever. That gets the motor
and cable unstuck.
The weather really doesn't agree with the car. The driver's side window
has started getting stuck--not switch-related, I'm pretty sure--and the
sunroof has too. The driver's window did it last summer, then went away
completely, and returned last week with the heat. In fact, I took a
drive along the coast and found that it worked fine if it was in the
50's and low 60's (foggy spots) but got jammed in the 70's. I haven't
taken the thing apart yet, but I'd appreciate any suggestions on what to
expect to fix.
