The pads (the metallic kind) are too hard and they have no "give". Generally
when you are trying to stop a moving (as in disc) part, one of the two
materials has to be a bit softer than the other. If not, you will either
"grind" it away or "distort" it (your case).
I have followed every factory bulletin on the problem (it is an issue that
has been recognized by Audi), and used 3 different types of pads with 3 sets
of new rotors (2 Audis 1 Jetta) and the only pads that worked are the PBR. I
am sure that there are other pads that will work equally well or better but
I don't have direct experience with them. What you need is a "softer" pad
that will confirm to the shape of the disc.
One of the reasons that Audi uses hard metallic pads in US is because the
American consumer demands long life of the brakes even if performance
suffers (brake efficiency), consequently it is "hard pads" versous "softer
pads".
Take care,
Avi

Avi,
How can the pads cause warping and why does a different brand not do it?
