Dirty switches are the usual culprit but it could also be
a broken wire between the door jamb and the door. Sometimes
the rubber boot that is supposed to keep the wires from
bending sharply gets a kink in it and does just the opposite.
It happened on the rear door on my 4000. Since the motor rolls
the window down, the problem is not the motor. Rolling it back
up is done by reversing the polarity and making the motor run
the other direction. You should be able to get it back up by
using jumpers to apply voltage from the "down" position on
the switch to the "up" terminal on the motor. It would probably
be a good idea to have a wiring diagram before you attempt this
however.
