Rene-

I agree with Rob's previous post about using a two piece boot. In addition
to the anecdotal evidence that these boots suck, my thoughts are: Why would
you want to "Mickey Mouse" a repair as important as a CV boot? On an Audi,
no less! ;-)

If you're looking for a workaround or ways to speed up the job, you may want
to consider trying to replace the boot without removing the axle from the
car. This poses another set of problems that others I'm sure will enlighten
you to. I ran into the most obvious last weekend. I was replacing a
damaged outer boot on my '90 Golf. Being the first time, I followed the
Bentley's to the T. Upon removing the axle as directed, I found the inner
boot had a small rip in the fold. Without removing the axle I never would
have noticed the damage to the inner boot until it was too late!

Look at it this way: Take your time, do it once, do it correctly, and the
new boot will last 100,000 miles. You save money by doing it yourself!
that's was good enough for me.
