4KQ window motor is PITA/bumper question
There was recent discussion on the list about removal (and likely
replacement) of the power window motor being a real PITA. Having just
spent a couple of hours pulling the motor/cable/window assembly, I'd
just like to heartily agree.
I did check the wiring (and fixed many broken ones in the door jamb) and
checked switches. Unfortunately for me, my motor was shot. However, I
did manage to fix my power mirrors, and while I had the door apart, I
got my power locks to work. Now I'm going to take the motor into an auto
electric shop and hopefully get a quick overhaul (anyone ever have any
luck doing this, or should I start a hunt for a replacement motor?)
Also, when I purchased this car I inherited a misaligned front bumper. A
closer inspection shows that the bumper itself is straight, but the
"mounting tube" that runs from the bumper back to bolt to the front of
the car is bent. Is it possible to replace just that mount, or do I have
to replace the entire bumper?
Thanks,
Dave
