I've always found that endorsing the premise that majority rules would
require believing average intelligence to be a virtue rather than a
liability. Particularly here when we all own or desire to own fine
automobiles that tend to be destroyed by the average mechanic. Somehow I
think that there is a better solution to the problem facing some listers
than looking for an either/or solution like drop it or keep it. I
personally wish to keep it because it does several things for me and I have
no limits regarding download or otherwise (time being the exception).
The biggest whiner seems to be Phil re: WOB, but I wonder if it's more due
to the fact that for him, much of the content is redundant. I seem to be
able to find the answers to many of my technical questions by scanning the
archives but it is time consuming and the lack of indexing/cross referencing
makes asking on the list much easier. An excellent project would be for
somebody(ies) to work on model as well as problem specific indexes that
could be a resource readily available to newbies(me) and newbies(Huw -
recent thread :-) who do not have the sheer breadth of knowledge and
experience available to Sages like Phil.
We all love the cars, we all knew nothing once upon a time, the duty lies on
the 'Haves' to enlighten the 'Have-nots'.
'Nobles Oblige'
Otherwise what's the point of the list in the first place? We can't all be
elitist SOBs can we?
My Extreme and Obnoxious Opinion - Love the cars - must be mad - climbing
into a fire proof container...
