You might want to check with your insurance carrier, Andrew. If you
get a price for the repair from a dealer and then the cost from your
independent (the latter likelly would be lower), your insurer may
agree to pay or at least help out. I once had a SAAB main
harness burn up and the insurance company was glad to have my independent
fix it for about half the dealer estimate.

I'll be getting the final word tomorrow on exactly
what's needed to complete the repairs. Just a thought; being that Audi
upgraded
their design in 1990 models, maybe I can get them to provide compensation
for the repair.
