On the 84 4000Q there are two speedo cables. A long one that goes from
the tranny to a small black box under the hood, and the second short one
goes from that box to the back of the instrument cluster. In my case,
the smaller one died, but I am replacing both anyway since the plastic
covering on the long one is torn anyway. They are about $30 each.

As far as the speedo/odo goes, the odo is driven off the speedo. So if
the speedo isnt working, nothing will.
