Re: Euro lights Set-Up-- Low Beams vs. Hi Beams

>My questions are:

    I think so.

>2. Are the lows supposed to be 'normal' like this -- or are they
supposed
>to be as bright as normal high beams?

Well, Yes and no. They should be very bright. But you wont get
much distance out of them. There should be a definate cut off. Park
in front of your garage door. The lows should have a cut off like
this. ___/ ___/ With the _/ Angle part being directly in front
of the lens. Now, on the road, the upcut angle will illuminate road
sighns, etc. The sharp cut off keeps the light out of oncoming drivers
eyes, etc. Lows are only to illuminate the road in front of you so you
can see the shoulder and lines, potholes, etc. They will NOT be like
Highs. They should be bright, but you wont get much range because if
you did you would be blinding people.

well as
>the highs? When I have the lows on- light only comes from the
headlights--
>not the parking lights like they do on the high beams

You dont HAVE parking lights anymore. They were replaced by the H1
Driving light unit. Thats why your Hights are so Kick Ass. The City
lights act as Parking lights. Lows are just the H4 bulbs low filiment.
(Legally you can only have one set of lights and one set of Fogs MAX on
Low beam.) So, H4 bulbs (like most) have a low and a separate High
Filement. Kick on the Highs and the low turns off, High turns on and
the H1 ALSO turns on. That city light does what your parking light
used to. Who needs parking lights when your lights are actually on?

>4. Should I get brighter (100 watt) bulbs- or do they burn out
constantly
>like I've heard?

They burn out faster but I love them. Just dont go with like 160
Watts. (Phil?) Go with an 80/100 or so and then like 110w H1. Or get
a Super White type bulb which personally I like. Just stay away from
the Blue ones.

>5. Should I have had them installed from the alternator because of the
>wattage difference vs. the jump-start battery connections.

Should make a big difference. Jump terminal should be fine. Mine
is fromt the Alternator but I dont have a Jump Terminal Close by. I'd
have to use a lot of wire to get there.
