Re: Brembos, big reds, etc.

Paul and the list Hi,

Regarding the 993 and 993TT differences in brake rotors and calipers sizes I
would like to point out that this difference also exists for the RS2.

AUDI is offering a "modified brakes" set.

My car was bought third hand but was equipped with this set from the
factory.
When I bought it the previous owner did not know anything about the bigger
(and drilled) front and rear brakes.
When I saw the Movit site I thought that they originated from them.
Then I got my hands on ETKA (thanks to he who knows who he is) and I found
out that the car had the original modified brakes.

According to ETKA
Front standard Big Red parts are:
rotors, LH 8A0 615 301B, RH 8A0 615 302B (304 X32mm)
calipers, LH 8A0 615 105E, RH 8A0 615 106E
pads, 8A0 698 151E and F and 8A0 615 231D

Rear standard Big Red parts are:
rotors, LH and RH 8A0 615 601B
calipers, LH 8A0 615 405M, RH 8A0 615 406M
pads, 8A0 698 151

---------------------------------------

MODIFIED (drilled and bigger)

Front modified Big Red parts are:
rotors, LH 8A0 615 283, RH 8A0 615 284 (322 x 32mm and drilled)
calipers, LH 8A0 615 105K, RH 8A0 615 106K
pads, 8A0 698 151G or 8A0 615 231D

Rear modified Big Red parts are:
rotors, LH and RH 8A0 615 601D
calipers, same as standard set
pads, 8A0 698 451B

------------------------

Please note that ETKA gives at least four other options for rear pads on the
modified brakes set.

I hope the above is helpful for anyone interested on a Big Red conversion.

Regards from Greece
Pantelis Giamarellos

P.S. If anyone is interested for a photo of the front and rear modified
(bigger and drilled rotors) RS2 Big Reds you can ask me for it.
