Ecu dead, but cars runs-HOW!
Yesterday, my ecu went dead. NO display, no check engine, no codes
(possible). The car wouldn't start, so I fiddled with things and I saw
that when I turned my fool pump "on", the display came up and the car ran.
The reading was off by a lot and was not showing boost. It would generally
stay in the 0.0 area. I looked this morning at what I suspected and it was
the groung wire to the manifold broken. Anyway, if someone suffers a dead
ecu, and the suspicion is a bad connection (that you can't find), try
brdging the fuel pump connections to get you back home. I figured that
this was supplying power to the ecu through a different route, thus the
off reading. I don't think the ecu will work properly during this (I
didn't notice much).
