Thanks, Huw- I was wondering about that, too. Tonight, it started first
time and I checked for anything that would or could interfere with the
distributor when the engine was running. Not only is there nothing in the
way of the distributor, but even after driving around for a bit, the
distributor is still firmly attached to its backing plate (and IMO the
object that could interfere with it would have to be pretty hefty!). I
think the distributor was knocked loose by the inspector when he was
fooling around with my battery. The non-starting is intermittent, and
non-dependent on the distributor being properly attached (or not altogether
dependent, at least).

There might be something _in_ the distributor that's loose or worn from the
distributor being improperly attached. I'll check that later.
